Little Update

Mt Redoubt decided to share the love of ash with us Anchorage folk.

She has been erupting since last Sunday. At least 12 times so far.

Last time she erupted, 20 years ago, she kept this up for four months!!

That's a lot of flights canceled.

Anyway things in the W house haven't changed too much. We usually take it pretty easy on the weekends. So when she blew on Saturday afternoon, we had no where to go.

They advise people to stay indoors. Breathing the ash can really hurt your lungs, especially kids and elderly.

Church was canceled though, today. It always brings a smile to my face how fast things can travel in Mormon world.

Within an hour of the Stake President issuing the cancellation of Church, I had been called three times, and emailed twice! It just amazes me. It's so wonderful in times like this.

This has definitely put even more things in the light. We went to Fred Meyer's tonight, just to walk around and get out of the house. Even if we wanted to buy milk, eggs, bread or other food items...we couldn't. Items were picked over, IF there was any. The fruit and vegetables were totally gone. It was soooo crazy!

It just goes to show how wonderful food storage is. I knew that we had enough food at home to keep us alive for quite some time. We need to work on our water supply. And it wouldn't be delicious food but it would be edible.

So anyway it's funny to hear people on TV say: "It's ashing today around Anchorage." LOL It's just funny to me! Not too many place in the world can you hear that!!

Wow, I am sorry to say this, but that picture is breathtaking, looks like a ring of saturn. Now, I have heard it is raining, snowing, cold, and sunny out today, but never it is ashing! Stay safe!

That picture is too cool. And I can't remember ever living anywhere where they cancelled church. My ex-hubby had flown to Anchorage years and years ago to babysit for my brother while he and his wife went to Hawaii on vacation. He was supposed to stay with them for 12 days....a week while they were gone and then several days after they came back so they could show him around Alaska. A volcano erupted and cancelled flights and he was stuck there for an extra week. He was going crazy and I'm sure so was my brother and his wife. I was actually enjoying the break hehehe

That picture is AMAZING!

Glad to hear you are safe though! I sooooo remember being in Washington when St Helens blew. It got so dark and the sky was filled with ash. So bizarre.
