General Conference notes

Bee and I watched good portions of General Conference this weekend.

Good portions meaning about 4 hours total.

It's hard trying to pay attention when Bee has to play with every toy that makes sounds or has a button/rattle/etc. But that's okay. I wouldn't change it for the world!!

I recorded it all so this week I will watch more every night AFTER Bee is asleep!

Here are some of my favorite things about this Conference:

Elder Oaks said " Gambling is selfish." I never thought about it like that before. His thoughts were You reap what you sow. If you aren't reaping, you shouldn't be sowing anything either.
I haven't ever been a good gambler. In fact, the first time I ever went into a casino was this past trip to Seattle.

I would like to hear your thoughts on that....

Next,
"It is the most holy of any place of worship on the earth. (Temples) ONLY the home can compare with the temple in sacredness!!!

WOW!!

I always thought of my house being a safe place but close to the TEMPLE!!!! You have to be a part of the club to get in there!! (Hehehe)

He said more things about it being clean and tidy and welcoming that I didn't write down because I was cleaning up a juice mess...I'll have to wait until the Ensign comes out.

But WOW, my home is close to the temple. I'm going to have to do some cleaning!! :)

I just wanted to share how grateful I am for General Conference. To be able to see and hear our modern day Prophets is just awesome. It is humbling to see them every six months. To see how many grey hairs we have put on their heads. Cuz I'm sure in all their praying and hoping for us, they turn grey!!

At least my dad blames Kassy and I for his grey hair!!

So what are you thoughts on these two things??

I love hearing what others thought of conference! Thanks for putting up your notes. What a good idea.

I was also really impressed with the points about our homes being like the temple. It makes me want to be better about keeping up with the dishes. :D

I always love what Elder Oaks has to say. I feel like he finds the problems we struggle with and tells us EXACTLY what's wrong with thm---so there's no question of what we should avoid.

We were asked a few years back to NOT gamble, and coming from the prophet that would make it a commandment. Some might struggle with it like the ear piercing commandment, but I just remember thinking, so more nickel slots at vegas!!!! :o)

I'm not a gambler. When we went to Vegas last weekend, I put one quarter in the slots, for my Snuggie pics, and that's all.

But, I have to admit, my husband sort of likes it. He won money playing Blackjack. Fortunately, he doesn't do it often at all, but it's not my favorite thing.

I loved conference this time around too. I really enjoyed it.

I'm so happy because I actually remember both of your thoughts.

My favorite was by far Elder Holland's talk.

It was sooooooooooo powerful!

I agree with Crash...I loved Elder HOllands talk and I loved the spirit I felt when the prophet spoke...such great men! Thanks Krista! :)

I was not able to watch it either with G&G and Sam was on duty so I recorded it. We are going to watch it here and there.

I never liked the idea of gambling but that is becuase I don't like to give up my money. That is why I coupon, I love to see how much I save, now that is something I am addicted to :)

I never thought of my house being like a Temple either. But it is true, I am not going to let just any body in here and I would like the Lord to come to my house!

I sooo loved conference. I got to see all 4 sessions. I so loved Pres. Holland's talk about the last week of the Savior's life.

As for gambling..put some coins in a slot machine on my 30th birthday. I won $75. I can see why it is so addicting. I have a son-in-law that is addicted to gambling. It ruins people's lives.
