Little Update

Mt Redoubt decided to share the love of ash with us Anchorage folk.

She has been erupting since last Sunday. At least 12 times so far.

Last time she erupted, 20 years ago, she kept this up for four months!!

That's a lot of flights canceled.

Anyway things in the W house haven't changed too much. We usually take it pretty easy on the weekends. So when she blew on Saturday afternoon, we had no where to go.

They advise people to stay indoors. Breathing the ash can really hurt your lungs, especially kids and elderly.

Church was canceled though, today. It always brings a smile to my face how fast things can travel in Mormon world.

Within an hour of the Stake President issuing the cancellation of Church, I had been called three times, and emailed twice! It just amazes me. It's so wonderful in times like this.

This has definitely put even more things in the light. We went to Fred Meyer's tonight, just to walk around and get out of the house. Even if we wanted to buy milk, eggs, bread or other food items...we couldn't. Items were picked over, IF there was any. The fruit and vegetables were totally gone. It was soooo crazy!

It just goes to show how wonderful food storage is. I knew that we had enough food at home to keep us alive for quite some time. We need to work on our water supply. And it wouldn't be delicious food but it would be edible.

So anyway it's funny to hear people on TV say: "It's ashing today around Anchorage." LOL It's just funny to me! Not too many place in the world can you hear that!!

Chris' quilt

I FINALLY am finished with the top for Chris' quilt. (It was a Christmas present.)

I'm sending it to Grandma Carlson to quilt cuz I'm not quite comfortable enough with my machine....and she is AWESOME!!!

Orange around the outside border for the hunting rules and it's Chris' favorite color.

Note the fishing lures on the outside....LOVE IT!!!

See the camo for the borders around the snow blocks! It's totally Alaska!!

Anyway it's Chris' Alaska quilt. Hunting and fishing.

This block is called Mr. Moose! He is a big boy!

Any suggestions for a name for the quilt?

New leaves...

As I was sitting, talking to a great friend last night, I realized that I have hurt people's feelings without even realizing it.

In my expressions of my readiness to leave Alaska, I have said things like, "I'm ready for a new adventure," or "I'm sooooo ready to leave."

While those statements are true, there is a hidden meaning in all of them.

I'm going to miss this place. More than just this place, these people.

I have wonderful, fanastic friends here that I'm sure I will be friends with forever.

No joke, FOREVER!!

I am sorry if I have hurt anyone's feelings with these statements. Just know that there is more to them than I lead on.

I do love you!!

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Another thing that needs to be written on here today is....

it's snowing!!!

As much as I don't like this weather, I'm actually enjoying this snowfall.

Anchorage is now pretty again.

Break up isn't pretty around here. A little snowfall just covers all that right up!

I'll try and get some pictures today.

----------------------------------------------------------------

We have a grumpy volcano around these parts.

Her name is Mt Redoubt. She has thrown up at us over 6 times in the past few days.

The ashfall has missed Anchorage so far. She is still grumpy and spitting things up.

Alaska Airlines canceled a few of there first flights on Monday and delayed a few more. This makes for grumpy people.

Bee and I were on Continential airlines. Our flight was plum (is that right?) full...not one empty seat. The flight attendents were not their pleasant selves. The food tasted like it had been heated up a few times. AND people on the flight were just anxious to get in the air.

Our flight was the first flight out of Seattle to Anchorage since the volcano blew.

We were excited to get home.

Bee did really well on the flight there and on the way home. We sat by some great people so that made things a lot easier! I had enough snacks and toys to entertain an army, or Bee!! I don't think I wanna do it again anytime soon but it wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be.

So anyway Mt Redoubt is blowing her lid but it hasn't affected us yet.

We have to replace our air fliters in our cars but that's about it.

Mom

So here are some pictures of my mom. She is 100% in love with Bee!

She thought she loved us! Ha....I think she was wrong. Bee could do no wrong.

This is Mom and her boyfriend. He is really great. He treats her like a princess. AND loves Bee too!! (They even left their weekend getaway early to see Bee. Now that's awesomeness!!!)

I have come to realize that I'm Bee's Mom now. Only a few occasions does Krista come out! It's alright though. I wouldn't have it any other way!

It's so great to see my mom happy! She is giggy and just excited about new things.

I hope she dances!!

Brief Recap

Blogger is having attitude today, and I can't say I'm enjoying it much!!

Anyway here is a brief recap of the last fourteen days. There will be more pictures with stories to come for the next few days.

I had such a great time in Seattle with my family and friends. I miss them bunches and it was nice to have time to just be.

Here is Bee playing cards with Mike, my mom's 'boyfriend'.

Here is my Mom and Bee. Every year we have a Bee and Maimeo picture. We forgot about it until the last day at bedtime sooo we have about fifty okay pictures.
This is what I felt like I dealt with 99% of the time. It wasn't really but felt like it.

This is Payton. He is the most talkative little boy I have met. He is just wonderful. I wish I could have packed him up and taken him home. For real.

This is Maggie at the zoo. She is one of my favorite elephants.

This is Bee and I at the pool. Auntie Kassie works there so we got to go lots.

This is my dad and Bee on the tractor!

Bee and Chris' parents' new dog, Jack. Seconds after this picture, Jack knocks down Bee into that dirt pile on the top! :)

Oh I have so much more to tell and write! I better get busy unpacking!!!
