Goals for 2012
My word for this year is HONEST.
I want to have the boys work on telling the truth. If they tell the truth, they get in less trouble. Also being honest with everything in life. Continuing to be honest with our bills, tithing, neighbors and friends.
My personal goals are
1. Family Home Evening once a month
2. Date night once a month
3. Finish a quilt once a month
4. No screen days (no computers, iPads, TV) twice a month.
5. Finish ALL of Erin's quilts
6. Bills on time
7. Run 500 miles
8. Read 25 books
Family home evening nights to play games with the boys or do something together as a family. Being in the military and Chris being home is a great blessing so we need to live it up!
Date nights are important to Chris so I need to make the effort to do it once a month. I need creative cheap date night ideas...help!!
I don't really have a list of which ones I want to finish but I figure 12 quilts finished is a good goal!
No screen days are something my friend, Mary, started with her boys and I love the idea! Days to just be real boys...playing in dirt, running and everything. I know computers are part of everyday life these days and will continue to be. I just want my boys to know what sand feels like in their hair.
I HAVE to finish her quilts. She has been patient with them sitting at my house but I'm sure she wants them back.
This is going to be an easy one but I need to see it. Pay bills on time. I have a bad case of procrastinations when it comes to bill paying.
I have a few people that are going to do this with me! I'm really excited about doing it with my sister though. If we don't reach 500 miles, we have to pay the other $100!! I hope she does 499! :)
Read 25 books. It doesn't seem like a lot but with 3 boys and lots to do, I think this will be a little tough for me.
What are your goals????

Shooting
Chris had to sight in his gun before my dad got here for their Oryx hunt. So we made it a family outing.
Bee got to shoot cups with dad on the 22. He totally loved it. I think he's still too young to have one but this showed me he could be responsible.
Glo Bug and Daddy walking to check out the target... 350 yards away. (I counted)

Christmas with ompa and grrma
While Grandpa and Grandma were here, we had to have Christmas! :)
Each of the boys got to open one present. TRACTORS!!!
Sadly this is the only picture I have of Christine! (next time I will be better)
Dad and Christine got pictures of the boys, and a digital picture frame with pictures of us on it already, coffee mugs. Christine got a Christmas ornament and Dad Bear Grylls knife.
Chris got money for a knife! And I got money for a double jogging stroller! I'm soooo excited. I ordered it and it's on it's way here!

Ompa and grrma visit
Oompa with Dragonfly. I loved having Grandpa and Grandma around because I had Dragonfly feeders! He spits up a lot so its always best to have a towel and blanket around. Dragonfly was QUITE content with Grandpa and Grandma.
So cute!
Grandpa and Bee hiking up the white sand and snow. It was VERY cold. When we got in the truck it said it was 29 at 2pm. No wonder we were freezing!
My dad and Chris got to go hunting while they were here and shot an oryx. It's an African antelope. Google it if you wanna learn more. They are here in New Mexico because years ago someone got them as a gift and let them go. So now the state gives tags out but they are really hard to get. It's pretty amazing that Chris and Dad got to go!

Definitely Christmas! I feel like it should be Easter, since that's more important, but there wouldn't be Easter without Christmas, right? And Advent is so much more fun than Lent.

We had a freak snow storm last week! It got cold, in the 20's, and snowed. It only stuck around for a day or so but it was fun!

Swim
I'm going through all my drafts so the next couple days are going to be of the past year. I'll try and put dates if I remember them.
This is in Seattle when the boys and I drove Nicci home in January.
That's Fireant in the swim top looking at the camera and Bee making bubbles.

Dads quilt
When I quilted my Dad's quilt, i hid words that meant things to us in it. I love this quilt for that reason.
Erin's sister's quilt
This quilt had a fish fabric so I decided to do swirls. I really like it. I believe I did this in October 2010.

Bee sleeps with Bee every night and uses Moose as his pillow. I can't believe how young he looks from just about a year ago.
We tagged along with Aimee and her playground when we were there. L to R..Bee, Ty, Aimee, P, Aileen, Broc and I don't know.

Hunting
Chris' elk. She was a big girl! No she isn't pregnant, just that fat!
This is Chris' deer. The picture is hard to see.
This is Chris' squirrel. Yes he ate it and is excited for Bee to start shooting so he can eat more. (i'll stick to the elk and cow, thank you!)

Notebook
This is my notebook. My mom had one when I was growing up called her Brain. I didn't understand then why it was so important but now I do. I carry it every where and NEED it everywhere.
I have my lists to do that day, appts for the month, bills that need to be paid on certain days, grocery lists, addresses, and even more.
When I was in ABQ, I wrote down little notes every day so I could write it here when I got the time.
I'm so grateful for this little book. It makes my life a lot easier. Plus it's a great memory keeper for years to come. I've used a book like this since I have been married, off on on. Ive kept them and laugh at the memories when I come across one on the book shelf.
Do you guys have a notebook? Or do you use your phone? or computer?

Chris finally got his ducks back! He was like a kid in the candy store when we picked them up! They are very pretty. The taxidermy guy even won a prize with the green one.

Geese purple
This one is for Ann. She's the leader of our "Geese in a ring" swap. She wanted berry colors. I think it turned out pretty cute.
These blocks take about an hour to 1.5 hours to make, total. So when they are done, it's a huge sigh of relief!
PS no I don't, can't, sit down and make one block all at once. Well maybe I could if I threw a few bottles and snacks in a closet and turned the radio up to cover the yelling! But I am pretty sure that's illegal. Plus I like my interruptions....most of the time.
