Staying in Alaska

"They changed the date to leave with another date so now we don't leave Alaska until August."

These were the words out of my hubby's mouth today. He went to visit the people in charge of our orders, to see why we hadn't received ours yet. (We were suppose to leave in 64 days, and counting.)

That was their answer. And because it's already in the computer with tentative dates attached to it, it CAN NOT be changed.

So no matter how many cookies, breads, caramels, quilts, aprons, phone calls or emails I make...we are staying in Alaska until August.

We must have a mission up here in Alaska that Heavenly Father wants us to complete before we leave. I hope we learn it soon cuz I want some sun!!

I am disappointed that we aren't leaving. The winters are hard up here. It's cold and dark. I was looking forward to being somewhere where we can drive places. To visit family without spending $1000 on plane tickets. To seeing family in February.

For the brighter side...(I'm going to have to have you remind me of these come January)...when we drive out of here, the Alacan will be safer...Bee will be two and be able to see more things...we'll be able to visit our hometown when everyone is out of school...it's only 9 months...the temple is here and close so that we can do what is needed...Chris will be able to get another hunting and fishing season under his belt...we get another PFD ($)...we will be able to pay off almost all of our bills with that extra money (just the truck left)...I have more time to work on a certain someone's quilt...I'll get to go to another midnight showing with my hommies up here for Harry Potter! (anyone in??)...AND I get to stay with all my friends I've made up here!!

Okay comment away so that I don't pout too much!

(I know I said I would put up sister pictures today but I'm not feeling it...tomorrow!)

W Updates

Bee has grown up so much in the past few months. He is walking, almost running now. He trips and falls all the time. When he does, he giggles and pulls himself up. I just listen to him throughout the house and smile.

He now knows where his nose, ears, eyes and tongue are. When you ask him what sound a bear makes...he growls! (So cute!!)

He is eating like crazy. I can't keep enough food in his tummy to make him happy!

He chases the cat around the house. (Louie runs away but it's a good chase while it lasts!)

Then he is walking and sees someone he knows, he will lunge into their legs! It's like his kind of hug.

When you go get him out of his crib after his nap or in the morning, he will hand you his pacifier. He is only allowed to have it in the crib now. It's so funny!

He knows how to drink out of a cup so we have had to go to cups with lids for Mommy and Daddy. One too many beverages has gone on the ground by the hands of Bee.

He 'helped' wrap presents yesterday by unrolling almost the whole roll of paper before I could even finish putting ONE present under the tree. He's a quick one!

Well that's about it! I hope you all had a great weekend!

Rule 2.The meme questions: 10 blogs - 15 questions

1. What is your favorite post from #3's blog? This one is my favorite...it's about her curtains in her bathroom. Gosh I love it!

2. Has #2 taken any pictures that have moved you? Not really moved me, she's in all the really awesome pictures so I'm pretty sure she didn't take them but this one totally inspired me! How could you not be friends with someone with a house like this?!

3. Does #6 reply to comments on their blog? Yes by email. She's really good about that.

4. Which part of Blogland is #4 from? Amy was my Secret Santa Soriee receiver. I know her through Amelia and Jill. She is so funny! She reigns in California next to a beach. She is now one of the blogs I check almost daily!

5. If you could give one piece of advice to #7 what would it be? Comment on the BoM reading blog...you might win something!!

6. Have you ever tried something from #9's blog? No not yet but I'm making these next week for thanksgiving!

7. Has #1 blogged something that inspired you? Oh yes she has! She is my BBFF. She takes GREAT photographs and inspired me, actually my husband, to buy my a DSLR camera! LOve it! And she inspires me on Sundays with her wonderful churchy thoughts. I wish I was so spiritual like her...maybe some day. And she is the reason you guys get to read letters to people. (Her idea.) AND she has inspired me to pray to move to New Mexico so that we can live in the same time zone!

8. How often do you comment on #10's blog? Not very often. She is a new bloggy friend. I totally love her blog though.

9. Do you wait excitedly for #8 to post? Yes she is pretty stinkin funny. I love that she is real. I'm so bad at commenting on her site though. It takes awhile for it to load for some reason.

10. How did #5's blog change your life? She made me realize what a great sister I have, through the love she shares with her sister. She also commented on my first giveaway so I made her an apron. She cracks me up every time she blogs.

11. Do you know any of your 10 bloggers in person? Wow...out of the whole list of 10, I only know Mal in real life. She went to school with my hubby. I think I went to their home ward a few times, in high school. We didn't chat or anything but we knew of each other.

12. Do any of your 10 know each other? Jill and Amelia are sisters. Umm...I think we are all in the same 'blogging circle' but I don't know if anyone else knows each other. Do you?

3. Out of the 10, which updates more frequently? CJ, the purple Diva. She updates like five times a day with some funny stuff. I love it all!!

14. Which of the 10 keep you laughing? All of them. They all make me smile or laugh, depending on the day.

15. Which of the 10 made you cry (good or bad) tears? Shelle for her Sunday posts, Mal for her Bobcat post...I'm pretty sure I was PMS'ing and my hubby told me they would just kill it, Rachel H when she spills her guts..I cry with her, Jill, Amy and Amelia I have cried from laughing so hard. I love this blogging world!
K so now it's your turn! Go find a post with 10 commenters and do this post! I heart you all!

Updates around here!

I don't know what is up with Blogger but it's taken me forever to upload these pictures!!
And they went backwards!

Anyway this is my favorite Christmas ornament. I made it back in Young Women's and still think it's the cutest thing!

This is my new Christmas tree skirt. Isn't he just the cutest?! And he was on sell...we love that!
This is the tree all bare. Don't you just love the holly and pinecones? We had to get a new tree this year because a cat that won't be named, climbed the tree last year and bent the branches to the point of no return. (Did I mention that this cat easy weighs 15 lbs?)

Here she is in all her glory! (I know, I know, it's WAYYYYYY early but we needed some cheer around here. Okay maybe it was just me. And if we didn't put up the tree last night, we couldn't until way in December with our schedules and family coming.)
This is Chris' favorite Christmas ornament. His wife bought it from him last year. He was soo giddy to get a fish. (I might have to go find another this year.)
K there's more pictures but blogger is only letting me do this much at a time so scroll down!
Remember that neighborhood moose I talked about before...well he came to visit. He ate our pumpkins! It's a special treat for moose and they will pretty much go anywhere to get them. I have two dogs and a light sleeping hubby that didn't wake up to this guy munching away!
The boys I watch were upset for a minute but then they realized that it was cool to have your pumpkin eaten by a moose. It beats just throwing them away!
This is the last picture of this quilt. It's finish, done, going away tomorrow. Notice the yellow binding that it didn't have before. I hope Nicci enjoys it.

Carseat

That car seat down there....I ordered it. BUT Target sent me an email last night saying that the price was wrong. That it's in their policy to double check each price before they ship it and it was caught. They deleted my order, which is a good thing because I wouldn't pay $300 for a car seat that I don't have a kid for yet.
I will buy one just not until I have a kid on the way!

My sister is coming on Saturday!!!!! I'm so excited! We had such a good time when she was up here in September. Our mission: Find a LIVE moose for Kassy to take pictures of!

My dad and his girlfriend are coming up on Wednesday for Thanksgiving too! We are going to have so much fun! I don't know where we will all sit but that's part of the fun!

I got all my secret santa and ornament stuff in the mail! Yeehaw!

TWILIGHT IS TOMORROW!!!
So excited! We have a group of at least 10 ladies going right now. Crazy Mormon chicks are up in full force tomorrow night, BE CAREFUL! (LOL)

HURRY!!!!!!!

I found this on my friend, Melissa's site! I totally went and bought one.

You save $237!!!! Seriously if you are thinking about having another or even know someone that is having one, BUY this car seat!

We have one for Bee and LOVE it. It cost us $300 though. It's $42.99. That's better than the Costco car seat! Seriously go right now. They go from newborn to 65 lbs. You won't have to buy another one. It's sooooooo worth it!

I really can't say anything bad about it. Go NOW!!

I'm sure it's a price mistake and they could fix it at any minute so GO!! (Heck, buy one for me! :)

We plan on putting up our Christmas tree the day after Thanksgiving.

Bee is too funny!

As this is our family blog, I'm going to do some family updates!!

Bee has now mastered walking. He is now trying new things. Like this evening, he walked around and around in a circle. Just because he could. It was really funny to watch. He would all of a sudden switch directions. I wish I would have gotten the camera out fast enough.
He used to walk with his hands up so he could balance. Now he is trying new things out with that too! He grabbed his diaper and walked all the way down the hall like that. He looked like a runway model!!
He only gets his pacifier in his crib now. He starts laughing every time he sees it cuz he knows it's bedtime. What a great kid!

Chris has sold the boat and his old truck. He now has 'nothing to work on!' I find it hard to feel sorry for him. He has a garage full of tools, a Ranger and a wonderful wife that has a HUGE list of things he could do! :) (He doesn't complain anymore that I brought up THE list!)

I'm slowly working on some quilts. It takes a lot longer when you have three kids! (Who would have thunk it!?) (Mal-I totally haven't forgot about you...promise!!)

The weather is cold here. It stays right around 25 degrees. The sun comes up around 9:00am and sets around 4:30pm. It's crazy to watch. (I'm planning on doing a whole post about this with pictures so hold that thought!) We got snow yesterday. About 5 inches.

Oh a moose ate our pumpkins right off our front porch!! (So much for guard dogs!) Pictures to follow. I'm in bed and too lazy right now to get the cord downstairs. (Tomorrow people, tomorrow!)

Well I heart you all! Thanks for the comments. I love them!!!

1. I'm so very grateful for my husband job in the military. It allows us to provide for our family with little worry about being fired or down sized. It allows us to live in places we wouldn't live before. (I wouldn't move to Alaska in a million years, if I had the choice.)

2. I'm very grateful for our Church. I love that it's an extented family. It's the same no matter where we go. The same priesthood, same setup, same great ideas and music. I love it! And the callings are great too!

I want to put up a thank you to all those that have served our country, past and present. We are so grateful for all the work that you do for our family to live here. Thanks for protecting our freedom and families!

Don't you Hate it When...

Don't you hate it when...

This is my husband's story. See that Polaris Ranger up there. We have one of those. Note the windshield.

So there I was, standing there smeared in motor oil...she walked in with a saddle and a set of jumper cables and I thought I was dead...oh sorry that's Jeff Foxworthy.

....when you miss calculate a jump with your brand new ranger and what you thought was a fool-proof jump, turned into a very expensive whoops!!

It was my first time out with the new ranger when I came up with the great idea to go off a jump that most experienced people would think twice on. At full speed I hit the jump and instantly my thoughts turned from "Cool!" to "uh oh!!!!!!!" I guess my ranger is a lot more nose heavy than I realized .The nose of my ranger came smashing down.

Instantly, the windshield popped out and landed on the ground, at the same time my forehead met up with the steering wheel. I looked over to check on my 6 year old companion sitting in the other seat, hoping that he didn't get cut in half by the seatbelt. He was fine (in fact he wanted me to do it again).

After all was done, I exited the ranger to find that the windshield that hit the ground unbroken, was now under the ranger shattered in thousands of pieces. Apparently I rolled over it when I took my foot off the brake. CRAP!!! Then, as if that wasn't enough, I returned to my ranger thinking that I could drive it back to camp only to realize that when I hit the ground, my front tires had been tweaked out so far that I wasn't able to steer. I had to bring the truck to the ranger to get it loaded. Then, while driving back to camp, I tried to come up with a good story about hitting a moose or something to that nature. I probably would have gotten away with it, if it wasn't for the 6 year old tattling on me.

Don't you hate it when that happens?! Yeah me too! (To the tune of $2000!!)

Now if you laughed or even chuckled at this story, by my hubby, go vote for us over at Shelle's Blokthoughts. Please go vote!! It'll just take a second!

(Note: These aren't real pictures from above accident...they are google pictures.)

Nicci's Quilt

This is what I've done working on while most people sleep! (My hubby is gone so what's the point to going to bed?)

Anyway...it's not done. I need to put the binding on. My mission for the weekend. I just wanted to share so you didn't think I was a total slacker. And to show Nicci her quilt in a big picture.
And a little Bee walking for the road!! Gotta love that kid!!

Bee's questions...

I haven't done this is soo long! I was going to have this done before Christmas! LOL Not anymore. Maybe I'll start with a Bee day are something!

Did you have any childhood diseases or health problems? Any stitches or broken bones?
I had salmonilla poisioning in my blood when I was about 7. The doctors didn't know what it was for a few days so I stayed in the hospital. My mom stayed with me on a cot. She found out there that she would get heartburn from bananas. Funny how you remember stuff. When I was 21 I was diagnosed with ITP...low platelets. You had it to when you were born because you had my blood in you. You now have great blood. I haven't had stitches..your aunt Kassy has had enough for all of us. I broken all my toes on the bulkhead in the swimming pool when I was on the swim team. I remember one time, my big toe popped out of the joint and I had to have Kassy pulled on it to pop it back in. All our friends were screaming around us.

Have you ever been hospitalized, or have you had surgery? What for?
See above for one. I was hospitalized for the ITP on Thanksgiving. And then again a year later to have my spleen out. Who needs one of those anyway??

What were some of the best experiences in your early life?
All of them have to do with your aunt Kassy. We used to play together all the time. We would go out on the boat with mom almost everyday in the summer. We would jump on the trampoline. Dance to music on the radio. Ride bikes in the front with Murphy. I don't know what else but we were always playing together.

What were your favorite family traditions?
I don't know if we have that many. Christmas eve we opened one present from Mom and Dad. It was usually PJ's or underwear. We have turkey and mashed potatoes and pumpkin pies for Thanksgiving. We would go get a tree Thanksgiving weekend. We didn't put up the tree until after my birthday when I was younger, but that was lost when we got older cuz I didn't mind. We make a gingerbread house with candy every year. We go out for dinner on our birthdays. And I think that's it.

What did you do on Valentine's Day? Did you make your own valentines? How did you deliever them? Did you have valentine box at school?
My dad would bring home flowers for us and mom. We would buy our valentine cards for everybody in our class. We usually had a homemade box at school and a party.

What did you do on Easter? Did you dye eggs and hide baskets?
We would have the Easter bunny visit us. The baskets were on the kitchen table with bunny prints around them. My parents would hide the dyed eggs around the house. We would usually dye them a few days before with friends and family.

What did you do on the Fourth of July? Did you set off your own fireworkds? Did you have a barbecue or picnic?
We usually celebrated the fourth with Dad's birthday, which is the fifth. So we would have friends and family over, or we'd go over to someone's house. For a few years it was my parent's friend's house, Lacy Elaine. We would buy fireworks and set them off in the street. A few years we got on the roof and watched a few from there. When we moved to the big house, we could see the fireworks in Everett from the upper deck.

On Halloween, did you play tricks on anyone? Did you go trick or treating?
We didn't play tricks on each other. I didn't even know that was part of Halloween until I was 20. We did go trick or treating every year until I was about 16. It was so fun to dress up and go door to door. We knew most people in our neighborhood so it was safe. I wouldn't do that now though.

What did you do on thanksgiving? Who came to visit? Where did you go to eat?
When I was little we used to drive to Grandma and Grandpa Carlson's house. We did this a few years because we didn't want Santa to miss our house. When we stayed home, Unka (Uncle Kelly) and sometimes Uncle David would come over. Everyone was invited and some years it was just us, others we had lots of people.

What did you do on Christmas? Did Santa visit your home? Did you ever see or talk to him? Did you hang stockings? What did Santa leave in them?
We opened presents early in the morning. I would wake up first and then wake everyone else up. Usually around 5am! Santa would visit in the night. He usually gave us our big gifts like the Nintendo or bikes or computer. We would see Santa at the mall but we knew they weren't real. One year we wrote him a letter and HE WROTE US BACK!! We got stickers and everything!! We hung stockings but that's where we got toothbrushes and pencils and socks and candy.

Did you have a Christmas tree? Buy it? Cut it? What were the decorations like? Tell about your most memorable Christmas.
We did have a Christmas tree. We would go cut our tree at Mr. Doshel's tree farm for along time. Then we got Grandma's fake tree....boo!! But mom liked it better so that's what we got. Our ornaments were all different. Some were homemade, some were from Grandma Slattery, some were gifts. All different and all fun!

What did you do on New Year's Eve? Were you allowed to stay up until midnight? Did you do anything special at midnight?
New Year's wasn't a big thing for us. Some years would stayed up, others we didn't. We would watch the ball on tv and that was it. When I was 16, I would go to church dances and celebrate there. The balloons would drop. We'd go home after. Nothing big. Sometimes would make goals but most of the time, not.

How is the world different now from what it was like when you were a child?
I'm not sure if it's changed a whole lot from when I was a kid. I know that there seems to be more scary people. Or maybe it's just me getting older and realizing it. We have better movies. Some people teach their kids sign language. We have better medicines. We have different beliefs on child raising and better ultrasound machines. Other than that, not much is different.

K that's enough for today! Thanks for reading!

Okay so I had a thought...

So I had a thought yesterday. I wanted to post some things on my blog for the past couple weeks and haven't.
Here are my reasons:
1. I have given this blog address to all our family.
I don't want to offend anyone of my family members. I want to keep everyone happy.
2. I don't want loose blog friend/readers because I love all of you. Seriously love ya!
3. I'm scared to go ALL out there for you guys cuz of the internet and scary people.

Here is my thought...this is my blog, I should do what I want. If you don't like it, then leave a comment and tell me why. (Be nice but tell me how you feel!)

So my question to you is, how much do you 'censor' your blog?

Halloween

Here are a few pictures of our night!

This is Chris' pumpkin. He took two hours to carve but it looks great!

(Don't look close, I have a double chin!) Wait....it's part of the costume! great makeup huh?!
I was a hunter (nice warm outfit!) Hooch was my hunting dog and Bee was my Edward.

Bee has a cold. Poor guy didn't take it very long in the 14 degree weather. Doesn't just make you wanna cuddle with him? Poor guy!

This is Ethan and Nova, the boys I watch. Ethan is the firemen and Nova is Batman. (The last two costumes as Target on Monday!!)

We did the Trunk or Treat at church. There wasn't near the amount of people as last year. It was about 20 degrees WARMER last year too. (They say not to take your 2 years and younger out in the cold below 20 for more than 20 minutes.)

So after our short run at the Trunk or Treat, we drove to Fort Rich to Brittany's house. Bee got to help pass out candy with Moosie Girl and Brittany, while the boys and I and Hooch did a quick run of her neighborhood. It was 7:30pm and most of the houses were out of candy. It was still fun.

We saw the GREATEST idea ever!! Someone had a Ranger like Chris' and they decorated it with Halloween things and drove the kids around in it! Awesome....we are sooooooo doing that next year. I got pictures on my phone. I'm going to try and get them off of there today, again.

I hope your guys Halloween was safe and warm!
